First Buddhist memorial in honor of hide

It was announced Sunday that Buddhist memorial services commemorating the 13th anniversary of the death of hide, the legendary X-Japan guitarist who died in 1998, will be held at Tsukiji Hongan-ji on May 2 of next year. This will be the first memorial service for the musician. Fellow X-Japan member Yoshiki will reportedly participate.

I wouldn’t say this is the first real memorial service for hide as X-Japan and other bands played in The Hide Memorial Summit and on July 8, 2007 Yoshiki Hayashi announced to be in talks with several musicians regarding a Hide tribute concert set for 2008, in order to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his former bandmate’s passing.

Anyway theres going to be a great turn out such as the past services for hide but they expect a turn out of 50,000 people.

On Sunday, which would have been hide’s 45th birthday, 1,500 people attended Kawasaki’s Club Citta’s annual birthday event, watching videos of hide’s performances and cheering as plans for the memorial service were announced on a giant screen.

A commemorative funeral event is held every year, with the third anniversary in 2000 being held at the then-under construction “hide Museum” (closed in 2005) in the musician’s hometown of Yokosuka. On the seventh anniversary, over 18,000 people offered flowers at the museum.

I have nothing more to be said, not a smart move nor a legal move. She could have just kicked him out with a bit of help from the police, but I guess she wasn’t thinking AT ALL.

Noriko Segawa, 48, who owns the wooden, two-story apartment in Chikusa Ward, told police the 61-year-old tenant, who lived on the second floor, had not paid rent for a couple of months. According to police, she started a small fire with newspapers left in a vacant room on the first floor at around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. The fire spread and eventually burned five rooms.

Man jailed for murdering 2 Filipino women

The Tokyo District Court sentenced a 50-year-old Japanese man to life and 14 years in prison Wednesday on separate charges of murdering two Filipino women in a span of nine years.

Nozaki was sentenced in 2000 to three-and-a-half years in prison for dismembering and abandoning Yoneda’s body, but a murder case was not established partly because only her teeth were discovered. He was indicted earlier this year for killing Kamiosawa.

The defense team argued during Nozaki’s trial that he must be acquitted in the 1999 case because there is no evidence other than his confession.

I don’t see how the defense team is saying he has to be acquitted for the 1999 murder, a confession is a confession. He has ties to woman and admitted to killing her if they found her body all that would do is make the case stronger against him. But the other reason I see that acquittment for that murder wouldn’t change anything is that hes getting LIFE in jail and 14 years on top of it.

Another Cop Another Up-skirt

A 32-year-old police officer was arrested under Kanagawa Prefectural nuisance laws on Tuesday, after he allegedly used a cell phone camera to take video of a 15-year-old girl’s underpants as she rode up an escalator at JR Yokohama station.

Kazuyuki Nagai, a detective based at Minami police station in Yokohama City, was apprehended by a station security staff member at about 4.30 p.m. after he was spotted putting a bag underneath the legs of the girl in front of him on the escalator. Nagai’s cell phone inside the bag was found to contain video of inside the first-year high school girl’s skirt, as well as two other similar up-skirt videos.

Nagai has admitted to the allegations and said that he thought taking the video would be simple.

Hes right taking the video is easy, its the getting away without being noticed thats hard. But I lost count of how many times I hear about this on the news and don’t feel like posting on the blog. Whats funny is that this isn’t the first cop to be arrested for an up-skirt video, let alone that this isn’t even the first cop to get arrested on the same escalator! Another officer was arrested back in April from the Asahi department did the same thing. Police should learn that there is active look out for people committing these types of crimes, everyone is a suspect just cause you carry a badge doesn’t mean that you can’t be caught doing so.

Yes its true, but its to catch a series of purse snatching going on. I wish thats all they reported, I didn’t need to know the type of clothes they are going to be wearing and I damn sure didn’t want to see pictures. When I get of here, I’ll make a mental note to avoid that city till this is over.

The policemen, dressed in short skirts, stockings, high heels, wigs and carrying designer bags, have been walking the streets of Nagoya since last month in a bid to lure bag snatchers.

But it gets worse, it seems that they did such a great job at being in drag…

Another 25-year-old policeman admitted that he “panicked” when a male driver propositioned him from his car.

Woman arrested for selling 1-yr-old daughter to man for obscene acts

The mother of a one-year-old girl was arrested Monday for violation of child prostitution and pornography laws after she let a man perform obscene acts on the baby in front of her in Miyagi Prefecture.

Yes this is very sick, thanks to the harsh laws here in Japan you won’t have to say “they should get long terms”. Japan is real strict on crimes of this nature. Her only remarks about why she did this was:

I needed money. She’s so small, I didn’t think she would ever remember it. I didn’t take my eyes off her the whole time

If she needed the money why didn’t she be the one the obscene acts due to instead of her 1 year old?

After the last sad news of the student’s body, though it gives the family some closure heres some good news for a change, though its still the sad story.

Man arrested for different crime suspect in Chiba Univ student’s murder. Another news story Ive been following, it dates back to Oct 27th. About a woman found murdered in her aparment building.

Police have arrested the man caught on a ATM’s camera as he withdrew money from the student a day after her death.

In the security camera footage, made public by the police in early November, a man, wearing a blue shirt and a cap, was withdrawing about 20,000 yen from Ogino’s bank account at an ATM near JR Matsudo Station in the vicinity of her apartment on Oct 21.

If you remember a post I made back in November 5th, about a university student gone missing a few weeks ago there was sad news. To refresh your memory heres the link:

Her body was found a few days later on Nov 9th. the detail in her final moments was just a very terrible and tragic crime that noone should be a victum of and noone should commit.

Her head was severed, and died from head trauma.

Investigators believe her killer must have used a vehicle to carry her body because no bloodstains have been found near the site.

The Obama Sushi Platter

Anything is possible, even with dull old sushi. At least that seems to be the mindset of Japanese sushi chef Ken Kawasumi, who has created an Obama dish consisting of Obama sushi rolls

In the Obama rolls, the skin is made of shrimp and the hair bits are made of black sesame. As for the teeth, nothing beats good old fish paste!

As much as I don’t mind Obama, and love sushi this has crossed the line. Presidents and food should never cross, I have yet to find a chef to make any food in the shape or apperance of Emperor Akihito or Empress Michiko. But hey, as great as the art work is, Im not going to be eating it.

Hamburger Vending Machine
